Poland Takes Lead in Norwegian Salmon Imports for its Growing Processing Industry

Last year, Norway exported 196,000 tons of seafood worth NOK 8.97 billion ($1.1 billion) to Poland, according to data from the Norwegian Seafood Council. Imports of Norwegian salmon have driven increased investments by Poland-based fish processors.
Norway’s seafood exports for 2017 were worth a record-high NOK 94.5 billion ($11.65 billion), according to the NSC. Salmon was the most important species for Norwegian seafood exports, with 68.4% of the total export value and about 38% of the volume. It was followed by cod, with 9.6% of the total export value, and mackerel, with a 4.4% stake.
