Federal Government Declares Fishery Disaster Following Hurricane Harvey

U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross determined on Tuesday Hurricane Harvey caused a commercial fishery failure in Texas.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott requested on Feb. 14 that Ross make the determination.
This year, the Congress budgeted $200 million for fishery disasters for 2017 or those caused by Hurricanes Maria, Irma and Harvey.
With this determination, participants in Texas fisheries are now eligible for Small Business Administration disaster loans.
