Final part of EU Common Fisheries Policy reform approved by European Parliament

Europe's Parliament has approved the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) which is the last of thre components of the new Common Fishereis Policy (CFP).
The fund will help fishermen to observe the discard ban, e.g. by buying more selective fishing gear, but will also be used to improve safety and working conditions, data collection and port infrastructure.
All this is designed to help to make EU fisheries more sustainable. The funding program runs for ten years.
