Australia's Torres Strait Rock Lobster fishery still lacks management plan

The Torres Strait tropical rock lobster may be the region's most lucrative fishery, but it's no closer to finalising a management plan. Torres Strait is located between Australia and New Guinea.
A High Court ruling earlier this year confirmed traditional inhabitants have commercial rights to access fisheries resources.
But it's still not clear how the move toward 100 per cent ownership of Torres Strait fisheries will affect non-indigenous commercial operators, who currently work the crayfish industry.
