Super Bowl Weekend Demand Pushes Up Chicken Prices With Activity Quiet In Beef, Pork, Egg Trading

The upcoming Super Bowl Weekend drove up prices in the white chicken complex, otherwise trading activity in the beef, egg and pork sectors was rated quiet or even weak depending on the protein reports Urner Barry's Jamie Chadwick.
Some weakness was observed in the beef complex last week, as buyers reportedly remained conservative and looked to satisfy only immediate needs. The Choice grade cutout, which represents a composite value of the carcass based upon prices paid for primal cuts, moved approximately $4/cwt lower, or -2.07%. Slaughter was up 5.5% from the week prior.
The pork cutout was nearly unchanged last week, gaining around 1.4% from the week prior. Lackluster exports, along with higher production figures indicated some downward pressure on the market but overall the complex was fairly steady...
