Peru's Anchovy Fleet Allowed to Fish 5 Miles Off Coast; 2015 Harvest Forecast Up 30%

Peru's commercial anchovy fleet will be permitted to fish 5 miles off the coast when the season gets underway this week with a harvest forecast to be up 30 percent over the past few seasons.
Earlier this month Peru's Ministry of Production passed resolution No. 09 that lifted a ban on commercial fishing five miles off the coast. Previously the fleet was required to start 10 miles out.
The country's National Fishing Vessel Owners Association supported the decision ahead of the March 26 start to the 2015 season in the southern region...
