Sea Delight has been working with WWF and the Peruvian government on a Mahi Mahi fisheries improvement project since 2012.
In May, the groups held a progress update meeting in Lima.
Attendees included Peru’s Vice minister of fisheries, Juan Carlos Riveros, a representative from Imarpe, along with several representatives from WWF and other Peruvian fisheries organizations.
The conference set some goals including:
-establishment of a fishing season from October to April, as the majority of juvenile fish are caught during the summer season.
-establishment of a minimum legal size of 70 cm fork length. Ecuador already has a minimum size of 80 centimeters.
-develop a program for the use and implementation of log books....
