FDA Hits Vietnamese Tuna Company With Import Alert After Scombrotoxin Fish Poisoning Outbreak
The FDA placed Truong Phu Xanh Co, a Vietnamese tuna supplier on Import Alert following an investigation of incidents of scombrotoxin fish poisoning linked to yellowfin tuna.
The Import Alert now allows the FDA to detain any yellowfin tuna products without examination. The product will not be able to enter the US unless Truong Phu Xanh can prove it meets US food safety standards.
