Dungeness Season Looks Good for Dec. 31 Start Date
From Washington to northern California, crabbers are loading gear on their boats, anticipating a Dec. 31 opening.
And it looks like they'll get their wish -- albeit after Christmas.
Meat recovery results released earlier this week showed crab in all areas have filled out and meet the criteria for opening the season. Domoic acid levels were all below levels of concern in all areas as well.
State fishery leaders said the Tri-State managers will discuss the options this morning by conference call and make a formal decision later today...
