NOAA Announces Proposed Designation of Sanctuary Within Existing Monument in the NW Hawaiian Islands
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration released draft designation documents proposing a national marine sanctuary in the marine portions of Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument Thursday.
The draft designation comes after the Western Pacific Regional Fishery Management Council developed draft fishing regulations within the areas of the proposed sanctuary prior to designation.
