Japan: August Salmon Imports Up 25%, Frozen Coho Tripled
According to trade statistics from the Ministry of Finance, the total import volume of salmon and trout in August (including salted, smoked, and processed products) was 12,701 tons, up 25% from the same month last year, and the CIF import value was 18,674 million yen($122.09 million), up 20%. Of this, the import volume of fresh and frozen fillets was 5,501 tons, up 23%, and the import volume of non-fillets was 7,200 tons, up 27%.
