Scallop Production in Hokkaido May Fall Below 300,000 Tons for the First Time in 9 Years
Hokkaido's scallop landings for the current harvest year are projected at 298,200 tons — a 15% decline from a year earlier and the first time in nine years the total has dipped below 300,000 tons, the Hokkaido Federation of Fisheries Cooperative Associations (Hokkaido Gyoren) said at its autumn trade meeting in Tokyo on Aug. 27.
