Red Chamber to purchase Contessa Brand, assets

Red Chamber is purchasing the assets of Contessa Premimum Foods, that shut down on April 30th when its credit lines were suspended.
Contessa has a well known retail brand name, in association with celebrity chef Ina Garten, known as the Barefoot Contessa. When the company shut down, she indicated to the New York Times that she was interested in purchasing the brand and assets.
Development Specialists Inc. was hired to handle the assignment for the benefit of creditors, which could sell Contessa Premium Foods' assets. Steve Victor, managing the sale for Development Specialists Inc, said both industry members and private equity funds looked at the assets.
