California's Squid Show up in Oregon where 6 Vessels are Fishing, Meeting on Regs Set for June

It's market squid time in Oregon.
Loligo opalescens, typically a California commercial fishery staple and one of the biggest fisheries in the state, has tanked in California so far this year. The 2016-17 season, which started in April, has not produced any landings so far.
Contrast that to Oregon, where more than half a dozen seiners have landed 572,000 pounds since April. It's not much, but it's a start.
But like the squid themselves, this fishery may be short-lived.
