Norway's Organic Salmon Producers Face Challenges in EU as France, Britain Suspend Imports

Norway's exports of organic salmon to the EU are threatened because the EU says Norway is out of compliance with its organic regulations.
Both Britain and France have stopped importing "organic" Norwegian salmon.
The issue, surprisingly, is sheep farms. The EU wants sheep to have a solid floor in their pens; while the Norwegian practice is to use a 'digestive' floor that makes it easier to remove muck. So the EU is claiming that Norway is non-compliant on sheep, and the impact has spilled over to other organic meat products such as salmon.
Seafood Norway says the organic salmon label represents about 1 billion in NOK sales.
