USCG Commandant Tells Senate “Readiness is Eroding”
Three months after the longest government shutdown ever, the Coast Guard has still not caught up with deferred critical maintenance on its fleet of aging assets or the effects of some 42,000 guardsmen who worked for five weeks without pay.
Commandant Admiral Karl Schultz addressed the Senate Commerce Committee last week to update them on the 2020 budget request.
