The North Pacific Right Whale Sings, More Marine Mammal Deaths Investigated in Alaska
The mysterious deaths of over 60 ice seals along the Bering Sea and northern coast of Alaska reported two weeks ago is currently being investigated, along with three more gray whale strandings, all in Southeast Alaska.
Amid this dire news, marine mammal scientist Jessica Crance issued a report on the first known song of the eastern North Pacific right whale, a critically endangered species with an estimated population of only 30 animals.
