ADF&G Releases Forecasts for 2020 Statewide Salmon Season
Alaska’s Department of Fish and Game predicts a 36% drop from last year’s salmon landings of 207.9 million to 132.7 million salmon.
Last year’s actual harvest was about about 5.3 million fewer fish than the state’s preseason forecast of 213.2 million, or less than 2.5 percent.
This year’s mix of 132.7 million salmon is expected to include 320,000 Chinook salmon, 48.1 million sockeye salmon, 4.2 million coho salmon, 60.6 million pink salmon, and 19.5 million chum salmon.
