NOAA Announces Lobster, Jonah Crab Rule Changes, Closures to Protect Right Whales; Industry Reacts
The first phase of the Atlantic Large Whale Take Reduction Plan Modifications was introduced by NOAA Fisheries on August 31.
NOAA initially shared its proposed changes to the plan at the end of 2020. NOAA said the changes aimed to “further reduce the impacts of entanglement in fishing gear on right whales in U.S. waters.”
