Ecuador Announces New Processes to Regulate Shrimp Farms
To improve how shrimp farms are regulated in Ecuador, President Guillermo Lasso, signed an Executive Decree on April 25, that will allow small and medium-sized shrimp farmers to carry out their activity legally and regularize 18,900 hectares of land.
Ecuador’s Ministry of Production, Foreign Trade, Investments and Fisheries described the move, which took place at the Divacci shrimp farm, located in Pedernales, Manabi province, as a “key and firm step” for the company that will lead to “greater social and economic contribution in this important industry on a national scale.”
