Alaska Pollock Total Allowable Catch Increases in 2023

The North Pacific Fisheries Management Council met over the weekend and recommended that the U.S. Department of Commerce set the total allowable catch (TAC) for Alaska pollock in the Eastern Bering Sea at 1,300,000 metric tons for 2023; an increase from 2022 when the TAC was set at 1,111,000 metric tons.
An acceptable biological catch (ABC) level of 1,910,000 metric tons was recommended for 2023. This is also up from 1,111,000 metric tons in 2022.
