Hong Kong and Ukraine Formally Accepts Agreement on Fisheries Subsidies
Both Hong Kong and Ukraine have formally accepted the Agreement on Fisheries Subsidies. The World Trade Organization confirmed the news in recent press releases.
The Agreement on Fisheries Subsidies was adopted by the WTO at the 12th Ministerial Conference that took place in Geneva in June 2022. The agreement was created to set “new binding, multilateral rules to curb subsidies, which are a key factor in the widespread depletion of the world’s fish stocks.” Countries that sign the agreement prohibit support of IUU fishing and fishing for overfished stocks...
