ANALYSIS: Rising Sockeye Prices Amid Declining Supply and Smaller Fish

Sockeye pricing continues to increase as supply diminishes. This decrease in supply is driven by lower landings from Alaska and the smaller size of the fish being caught. According to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G) the average size of the fish is currently 4.2 pounds, marking only the fourth time in the past 20 years that the average size has fallen below 5 pounds.
