NFI Asks Trump to Withdraw FDA’s Proposed Front of Packaging Nutrition Rule
The National Fisheries Institute (NFI) showcased its disappointment in the new proposed FDA rule that would add a new front-of-package label providing “at a glance” nutrition information on saturated fat, sodium and added sugar.
The NFI argued that by focusing on negative saturated fats, the FDA misses the point and misleads label readers. It noted that salmon, for example, contains almost entirely entirely unsaturated essential omega-3s, the healthiest fatty acids found in any protein.
