Tragedy Strikes at Scallop Season's End — Fisherman, 26, Dies of Injuries
Gloucester's and Down East Maine's fishing communities are once again dealing with loss and pain.
On Friday, a 26-year-old crewman from Maine died and his crewmate suffered life-threatening injuries reportedly from a snapped rope aboard a Maine scallop vessel fishing out of Gloucester.
The incident happened aboard F/V 25 to Life fishing about 25 nautical miles east of Nahant on Friday afternoon, the Coast Guard said, toward the end of this spring's Northern Gulf of Maine scallop season.
