US Fish and Wildlife Service Expands Shellfish Definition to Include Squid, Octopus and Cuttlefish

The US Fish and Wildlife Service has finalized a rule updating the regulatory definition of "shellfish" to include cephalopods — squid, octopus, and cuttlefish — bringing federal regulations in line with modern scientific understanding and longstanding commercial practice.
Under 50 CFR Part 10, the FWS regulates the import and export of wildlife and wildlife products, with certain exemptions for shellfish.
