Farmed Salmon Price Volatility Worse Than Shrimp As Prices Soar More than 60%, 3rd Time Since 2010

The farmed salmon industry is concentrated, highly developed, and major producers are mostly public companies.  The shrimp industry is fragmented, made up of many smaller producers, and has far more global production sites.
 
Yet Farmed Salmon prices are far more volatile than shrimp.  This year, for the third time since 2010, fresh salmon fillet prices have soared by more than 60% in a few short months.  In 2016, prices rose over 60% from last November until July...
