Tasmania's two largest fish farm companies are under investigation over a potentially disastrous collision at sea.
It involves an allegedly adrift, large salmon pen and a yacht passing within about 1m of each other near Bruny Island at night.
The Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and the Environment has issued a “please explain” letter to Huon Aquaculture and Tassal into the near miss at 2am on March 28.
