Canada's SeaChoice Criticizes ASC Certified Salmon Farms for Often Being Below Stated Standards

SeaChoice, a marine NGO based in Vancouver, says that farmed salmon under the ASC standard often fails to meet stated requirements. They argue that some ASC certifications are contrary to stated ASC standards, and that the number of exceptions given to ASC certified salmon farms amounts to a broad chance in ASC salmon standards.
At issue is sea lice treatment and whether farms that exceed ASC standards for either total sea lice load, or treatment frequency, can still carry the ASC certified salmon label.
