Georgia DNR Set to Open Shrimp Season, Close Oyster Harvest
As one season opens, another closes. Georgia's Department of Natural Resources announced that the state waters will be open for commercial and recreational harvest of shrimp beginning Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at 8 a.m. A few days later, on Saturday, June 1, Georgia's territorial waters will close to commercial and recreational oyster harvest.
According to the DNR, this year is the third earliest shrimping season opener since 1977.
