Study Predicts Climate Change Could Result in Decline of Hawai'i's Bigeye Tuna
Love ahi poke bowls? Well, according to a new study looking at climate change, the popular dish may be at risk. Scientists from the Pacific Islands Fisheries Science Center, the University of Hawai'i, and the University of Tasmania developed a model of the ecosystem in which Hawai'i's bigeye tuna fishery operates. Based on the model, warming waters and a decline in plankton could result in a decline of catch in Hawai'i's bigeye tuna fishery.
