China’s Shrimp Prices Contract; Farmers Losing Money and Facing Tough Times
Shrimp prices have been declining in China’s Pearl River Delta (PRD) region and western Guangdong during in mid-July, because continually high temperature has led to great quantities of sick or weak shrimp. As statistics show, overall prices have dropped by about 1 yuan/jin ($01.4/jin USD) to 2 yuan/jin (1 jin=0.5 kg; $0.28/jin USD) in the PRD region.
