Japanese Snow Crab Season Opens, Auction Fetches ¥5 Million ($45,800) For One Crab
Japanese snow crab season opened on November 6 with an all-time record-setting price for the best crab sold at auctions. The top bid price reached ¥5 million per animal in Hyogo Prefecture at the season’s first auction, Suisan Keizai Shinbun reported. The fishing season is open through March 20 next year for male crabs and the end of this year for female crabs.
