Ecuador’s National Chamber of Aquaculture: Shrimp Sector in Crisis due to Organized Crime

Cámara Nacional De Acuacultura (CNA), a non-profit organization aiming to promote Ecuadorian aquaculture highlighted the impact organized crime has had on the country’s shrimp industry.

The country’s top non-oil export and an industry that employs thousands of citizens, is going through a crisis due to organized crime, according to the organization. In particular, the provinces of Guayas and El Oro recorded the highest number of criminal incidents last year.
