Politicians from Connecticut sent a letter to the U.S. Department of Agriculture asking to reverse the decision prohibiting the state’s shellfish farmers from receiving payments from the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP).
Connecticut’s shellfish farmers were able to receive assistance from the CARES Act but additional direct payments through the CFAP could help the industry battle the negative impacts of the coronavirus, the delegation argued.
