Copper-laden Dust Not Analyzed at Pebble Mine Huge bulldozers, blasters, crushers, trucks and other heavy equipment are tools of the trade when building and operating large mines - and they all kick up a lot of dust. The Pebble Mine, for example, will generate nearly 16-thousand tons of so called “fugitive dust” in its mining, from building an 83 mile road that will cross over 60 rivers and streams, and in the 35 daily round trips to its export terminal at Cook Inlet. The dust will be laden with particles of copper that will land on thousands of acres of wetlands in the Bristol Bay region...
