Lawsuit Alleges Sustainability Claims from Maine-based Mowi Subsidiary Mislead Consumers
A Maine-based subsidiary of salmon farming giant Mowi, Ducktrap River of Maine, is facing a lawsuit from a consumer who alleges the company’s sustainability claims are misleading American consumers.
The lawsuit filed by Abigail Starr, a resident of Brooklyn, New York claims that Ducktrap River of Maine used false and deceptive marketing and sale of Mowi’s smoked Atlantic salmon products, which are labeled as “sustainably sourced.”
