Maine Delegation Looks for Lobster, Shellfish Inclusion in Shipping Rule Changes
U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Angus King, alongside Representatives Chellie Pingree and Jarden Golden, sent a letter to the U.S. Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao pushing to include lobster and other shellfish in the Interim Final Rule on “Hours of Service of Drivers: Definition of Agricultural Commodity.”
If lobster can be included in the rule, established by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, it could mean Maine lobster could reach the domestic destination quicker, including nearby Boston, Massachusetts, and New York, without prolonged stops, according to the delegation.
