F/V Scandies Rose Hearing Focused on Sinking but Also Industry Practices and Culture
Captain Gregory Callaghan opened the U.S. Coast Guard/National Transportation Board hearing on the sinking of the F/V Scandies Rose last week stating that the purpose of the hearing was to find out what happened 14 months ago when five lives were lost, and how to prevent it from happening again.
The hearing is now half over, and it’s clear that goal has grown beyond what any one person or boat’s crew could have done to prevent the tragedy.
