Alaska’s New Regional Administrator for NOAA Fisheries is Jon Kurland, Starting Monday
After a four month search, NOAA Fisheries’ Assistant Administrator Janet Coit announced Jon Kurland is the new Regional Administrator for NOAA Fisheries’ Alaska Region. Kurland replaces Dr. Jim Balsiger who retired November 30, 2021 after 21 years in that position. Kurland will assume his new duties on Monday March 28. Doug Mecum has been serving as the Regional Administrator (Acting) during the last four months.
