Japan: Frozen Salmon Roe Imports Beat Previous Season Record of 19,535 Tons
The season import volume of frozen salmon and trout roe from the United States and Russia, the main ingredient for processing soy seasoned ikura salmon caviar and sujiko salmon roe, has been confirmed in Japan. According to the import customs clearance statistics from May 2021 to April this year, the total quantity approached 20,000 tons. The import value exceeded 60 billion yen ($446.89 million), more than three times the previous year, Suisan Keizai reported.
