Japan Salmon Imports in 2022: Frozen Sockeye Rose 20%, Frozen Trout from Turkey 5-times
In 2022, Japan's total salmon and trout imports reached 292.4 billion yen in CIF value, up 25% from the previous year. The breakdown was 58 billion yen for fresh fish, an increase of 8%, and 217.4 billion yen ($1.64 billion) for frozen fish, an increase of 30%.
