“We Can Go Fishing” Southeast Alaska Chinook Troll Fishery is Granted Last-Minute Reprieve
The Chinook troll fishery will open July 1, thanks to an 11th-hour ruling Wednesday reversing a lower court ruling that would have kept the fleet from harvesting Chinook salmon.
The five-page ruling by Ninth Circuit Judges Barry Silverman, Ryan D. Nelson, and Patrick Bumatay, noted “A flawed agency rule does not need to be vacated upon remand and instead may be left in place when equity demands.”
