Pollock Resource Rapidly Improving in the Sea of Japan
On October 31, the Fisheries Agency of Japan announced the results of a stock assessment of seven species and 13 lineages, including Alaska pollock and red snow crab, compiled by the Japan Fisheries Research and Education Agency and research institutes in related prefectures. As a result of suppressing fishing pressure on the northern Japan Sea stock of Alaska pollock, the stock is rapidly recovering. It is expected to exceed the proposed limit reference point (LRP) as early as the 2024 fishing season (April to March of the following year)...
