New Bedford Commercial Fisherman Sentenced For Evading Taxes on $1.9 Million in Income
Joaquin Sosa, a New Bedford fisherman, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for evading taxes on $1.9 million in income.
Sosa worked as a commercial fisherman and deckhand between 2012 and 2021. Despite receiving approximately $1.9 million in income during that time, Sosa did not file tax returns reporting the income. The Justice Department says that Sosa also failed to pay the “substantial income taxes owed on the income he earned.”
