Kroger, Albertsons Companies Share Update on Merger Timeline As Lawsuit Is Filed In Washington

Grocery chains Kroger and Albertsons still have not closed on their proposed merger. And now there is a lawsuit in the mix.
Kroger and Albertsons Companies first announced that they entered into a definitive agreement to merge in October 2022. Together the two chains operate 4,996 stores, 66 distribution centers, 52 manufacturing plants, as well as 3,792 pharmacies and 2,015 fuel centers. All together they employ more than 710,000 associates across these areas.
