Norway Reports One Million Fish Mortalities in Production Areas 9 and 10
Today, the Norwegian government announced that the algal bloom in production areas 9 and 10 has led to approximately one million fish mortalities for several farms in Nordland and Troms. Of these mortalities, 250,000 are smolts.
The highest mortality was reported between May 10-12 in production area 10, particularly in the area around Astafjorden, with four companies being affected to varying degrees. However, fish mortalities decreased throughout the week after the peak mortality period.
