California Commercial, Sport and Guide Groups Request More Funding for Salmon Disaster
Salmon fisheries were once the mainstay of sport, commercial and tribal fishing in Northern California, but no more. Last year, the fishery was closed completely due to poor runs on the Klamath and Sacramento rivers, prompting a request for federal help.
That help came in the form of $20.6 million, announced last week by the National Marine Fisheries Service.
But it's not nearly enough, say sport and commercial fishermen.
