Public Comments Sought on DOJ Order That Trident Update Vessel and Plant Refrigeration Systems
The U.S. Department of Justice has opened a public comment period on changes to an agreement from DOJ and Trident Seafoods regarding Trident’s plan to resolve extensive violations of the Clean Air Act due to out-of-date refrigeration systems. In May 2019, Trident and DOJ agreed to a plan — called a Consent Decree — that set up a comprehensive program to replace or retire freezer systems on Trident vessels and plants in Washington and Alaska that were using ozone-depleting fluorocarbon refrigerants.
