Clamming Crew Rescues Three from Missing Sailboat
Seas were towering with swells before high winds when the commercial clamming vessel "Melissa K" came upon the missing sailboat.
The missing boat, named "Hot Chocolate," had departed New Haven days before, intending to sail nearly 600 miles to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. But somewhere along the way the boat became disabled. When the boat and the three people onboard failed to show up at its destination in Ocracoke, N.C., someone reported their concern to the U.S Coast Guard, which launched a search.
